Dr. Miriam Dreewes took over ownership of Hometown Animal Hospital in
January 2009. She grew up with many pets and ten siblings in rural Germany
. In 1991 she married Jeff, of Kennewick , WA , who was stationed in Germany with
the U.S. Army. They have two young children, age 5 and 1. Her other "children" include Dr.
Cox, an Affenpinscher canine; Speckles , a 16 year-old cat lady; Jack ,
a 7 year old cat who lost his tail to a car accident; Yoshi , a 17 year long
resident box turtle with the Dreewes family; and finally Rosa the fish.
Both Dr. Dreewes and Jeff are "Cougs." Dr. Dreewes received an Associates
Degree from Hagerstown Junior College in Maryland in 1994 (highest honors); a Bachelor
in Biology and minor in Psychology from WSU-Pullman in 1997 (summa cum laude); and
her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM) from WSU in 2002 (magna cum laude).
After graduation she worked in Maryland , but returned to the Inland Northwest in
2006. It is Dr. Dreewes' goal to practice high quality medicine and to attend to the
needs of both pets and their owners. She recognizes the importance of the human-animal
bond and considers pet as part of the family.
Dr. Linda Crider, a veterinary classmate of Dr. Dreewes, is a 2002
Graduate of the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to
becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Crider obtained a degree in Journalism from New Mexico State University , worked many positions in local veterinary hospitals, and helped adopt
out retired racing greyhounds. Currently, Dr. Crider volunteers with Italian Greyhound
Rescue, Spokane 's Humane Evacuation Animal Rescue Team, and American Humane's Red Star
Animal Emergency Response Team. Her veterinary interests are in internal medicine, dentistry,
and ophthalmology. Her personal pet family includes three dogs, two rabbits, and two
birds. Dr. Crider works at Hometown Animal Hospital on Saturdays.
