Meet the Doctor

Kat Hanson - Lead Receptionist

Kat was born and raised on a farm 6 miles north of Deer Park on a land homesteaded by her grandparents. Having worked in the veterinary field for about 9 years, she has been at Hometown Animal Hospital since February of 2008. Kat has been married to a Paramedic/Firefighter named Shayne for 18 years. Their pride and joy are their two teenage sons, Colton and Dalton, who are involved in Football, Baseball, Basketball, and numerous other activities, as well as being straight A scholars.  Kat and her family enjoy the country life by farming 20 acres in the Williams Valley area and raising a few Quarter Horses and beef cattle, as well as keeping goats, dogs, and cats. Their hobbies include sports, 4-wheel riding, and barrel-racing.

Alicia Dassow - Veterinary Assistant

Alicia joined the Hometown Animal Hospital team in the Spring of 2009. She was raised in Chattaroy and finished High School at Riverside.

She then completed the Veterinary Assistant program at Apollo College . After graduation she worked in Post Falls and North Spokane as a veterinary assistant. Having no idea about her life plan after High School, she applied to the Veterinary Assistant Program on a whim. It took her by surprise that she has fallen in love with her career and her patients and she is reminded daily of the rewarding, yet challenging, path she has taken. Loving their floppy ears, Alicia keeps herself company with her two coonhounds, Copper and Johnny. Her hobbies are camping, fishing, hunting, and other outdoor activities, but especially spending time with family and friends.

Kathryn Day - Licensed Veterinary Technician

Katie joined the Hometown Animal Hospital team in the Spring of 2009.

After spending many hours volunteering, she earned her degree from the Yakima Valley Community College . She is looking forward to the future years of working in a career in which there is no end to the vast amounts of knowledge one can accumulate, as well as the many faces, both new and old, one can meet. Katie was raised in the Deer Park area and has always had a love for animals. Her family pets have included dogs, cats, rabbits, potbellied pigs, cattle, and birds. When younger, she participated in many 4-H events, started a small Mini Rex rabbitry, and showed her Dachshund, Chloe. Katie's more current hobbies include reading, drawing, going to movies, and spending time with friends.
